Medical Doctor and Upper Cervical Doctors Agree!

Harvard Agrees with Upper Cervical Care

Adapted from "The Weekly Sticky"

At first glance you'd think an upper cervical doctor was responsible for these words.  But they were actually written by a Harvard medical school instructor in the late 1800's.  While this belief is trivialized by the medical and pharmaceutical community today, it remains the core foundation of the practice of upper cervical care.

Upper cervical doctors humbly acknowledge that "the ONLY thing that can heal the body is the Power that created it."  The wisdom Dr. Cabot refers to in his quote is called innate intelligence by upper cervical doctors.   It is the genius of Life that animates our cells, tissues and organs.  It is the coordinating force that maintains our body's intricate chemical balance.  It silently and knowingly orchestrates all steps involved in the healing process from mending a broken bone to putting cancer in remission.  It is in favor of you living, rather than you dying.

The most important job of an upper cervical doctor is to teach you about this great force and keep you connected to it.  If you want to meet the REAL doctor responsible for healing you, take a look in the mirror.  It’s the one staring right back at you.

Why Should You Visit An Upper Cervical Doctor?

(Editors note: This is a great post by an even greater friend and professional colleague, Dr. Adam Tanase. Click here to see his post and the rest of his blog.)

In the early 20th century, the B.J. Palmer Research Clinic was a renowned facility in Davenport, IA. Thousands of patients from all over the world traveled here to consult with Dr. B.J. Palmer because he had a tremendous reputation for getting sick people well. Even Dr. Charles Mayo of the famed “Mayo Clinic” brought his wife in for a chiropractic evaluation.

A small sign hung above the entrance to the clinic:

Founded for the restoration of Health to those for whom medical treatment or ordinary chiropractic adjustment and care have proven insufficient.

This sign fascinates me for a number of reasons, mainly for what it doesn’t say… It never mentions whiplash, sports injuries, sciatica or back pain. It’s more of an open invitation to any patient with a problem that hasn’t responded to traditional medical/chiropractic care.

For many patients with chronic health problems, it was the “last stop.” Interestingly enough, the clinic flourished! People got the results they were hoping for… Upper Cervical Care worked, and it did so for all sorts of different ailments.

Medical doctors and chiropractors alike scratched their heads wondering how his Upper Cervical methodology was so effective. What was he doing that they weren’t, and what were they doing that he wasn’t?

This week I received a phone call from a retiree who received Palmer Upper Cervical Care almost 60 years ago. She’s literally been searching for a “Palmer doctor” for decades because no one has been able to help her since. And that got me thinking… I can barely remember the name of doctors I’ve seen over the past 30 years, let alone whether or not they actually helped me. The effectiveness of the Palmer Method left such an impression on her that she remembered its effectiveness for over a half century!

For that reason alone, I’d say that visiting an Upper Cervical chiropractor is worth consideration… especially if “medical treatment and ordinary chiropractic adjustment” haven’t given you any answers.

Do You Really Want Health?

If Your Answer Is Yes, Upper Cervical Care Can Help You.

There is an old saying, “Everybody wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die to get there.” A similar statement could be made concerning health. In almost any survey taken asking people what they wanted most out of life, good health is one of the top three things on the list. Yet how many of us allow other less important things to keep us from attaining maximum health.

Most people who come into an Upper Cervical office desire to be healthy. Unfortunately, they often do not realize that it will take some effort on their part. The average person’s experience with medicine has led them to believe that they will be made healthy by what the doctor does to them or what he gives them. They can just sit back, do nothing or at most, remember to take their medication every four hours. While this approach may be effective treating disease, it has little to do with health.

Disease treatment is largely a passive activity. Health maintenance or health restoration is largely an active endeavor. Therein lies the problem. Sitting back and doing nothing will not promote or maintain health. Hoping or wishing for health will not make it happen. It must be actively pursued. A choice must be made.

Every individual has to establish his or her priorities. Is watching television more important than exercising for your health? Is eating poor quality food more important to you than spending the few extra dollars for good food?

Upper Cervical Care is also an active approach with the benefits of care occurring even after the adjustment, and like exercise and eating, they are far reaching. It is true you may feel good right after an upper cervical correction, but the real benefits are the long-term ones. When the body is working better it can actively promote health and well being and add years to life. Do you really want to be healthy? Sadly, too many people do not want to pay the price, which are time, money, and effort. You cannot expect to have good health unless you do those things necessary to attain it.

Only you can answer the questions put forth here and how you decide on these and other relative questions could very well determine your health, your happiness and your life.

The Best Kept Secret In Healthcare

By Dr. Travis J. Robertson

Healthcare?

First off I would like to say that the concept of Healthcare itself is a secret to the world and to the U.S. in particular. What we have in this country is sick care or crisis care. The medical establishment is great at crisis care but they seem to know very little about health, how to regain it, and how to maintain it once you have it. They treat symptoms only. There is nothing wrong with that since that is the goal and they do an extremely good job at accomplishing their objective. So where do we turn for true health? Well, we need to know what health is first of all.

What Is Health?

Health is defined as optimal physical, social, and emotional well being and NOT merely the absence of symptoms. Health is about how well you function not about being merely free of symptoms. If we break that down into its’ most simplest terms health really is having balance in all aspects of our lives.

The Nervous System

In order to achieve and maintain this delicate state of balance we have to be equipped and ready to make changes and adapt as situations, both within us and outside of us, change. The system that makes these adaptations possible is the nervous system. The nerve system is an underappreciated part of our body. The nervous system’s job is to keep this beautiful symphony, called our bodies, sounding (functioning) as it was intended. Without it we are dead in an instant.

Malfunction

If the performing of this crucial task is interfered with the body as a whole will suffer. It may be the kidneys, or the liver, or the stomach, or the shoulder that suffers first. Actually you could put whatever organ or body part in there you want. If the brain is being prevented from communicating with that part that part will suffer whether you feel it or not. Remember, health is not how you feel. If someone has cancer and doesn’t know it and feels great they are still sick. If your nervous system is being interfered with and you don’t know it you are still sick.

Upper Cervical Care

So what does Upper Cervical Care have to do with that. Your spine’s purpose is to protect the nervous system and to serve as an anchor of attachment for general body movement. If the spine is not in proper alignment than not only can it cause aches and pains but many times it will also interfere with the job of protecting the nervous system. If the nerve system is no longer protected as it should be than it will be open to malfunction/imbalance which can lead to any symptom or disease known to man.

The Upper Cervical Objective

The goal of Upper Cervical Care (UCC) is not to treat any given condition. It is only the body that can heal and maintain health and vitality. In order to maximize this innate/inborn ability that we all possess we have to seek the right set of circumstances. In UCC we analyze the neck to determine the place of structural imbalance that is the cause of the nerve system interference. Once found we set out to correct that imbalance so that the body can fully express its’ ability to heal and be well. Do symptoms go away under UCC? Many times they do but it is because the body is now functioning more normally. Do diseases go away under UCC? Many times they can but again, it is because the body is functioning more normally. Because of the importance of the spine and nervous system to not only our health but to our very lives everyone deserves the chance to be their best through Upper Cervical Care.

Upper Cervical Care And Your Options

Adapted from an article by Dr. Joseph Strauss

I. Ignore the symptoms or the disease

Simply do nothing about it and hope it will go away. In this case you would not seek Upper Cervical Care nor any other type of care. It seems like a poor option (and usually it is), however, most people choose this option most of the time in lieu of any professional care. The common cold is the best example. Many people will do nothing and just wait to "get better." What they are saying, in effect, is that they will ignore it and let the body "heal itself." It appears that deep down inside almost everyone understands this concept.

A. Ramifications

1. Positive - the condition may go away on its own and never return. This is possible whether it's the chicken pox, a cracked rib, the common cold or an ache or pain. You need to know that the body often is able to heal itself without the help of anyone.

2. Negative - the condition or disease may worsen. If it does, by the time you choose to do something about it, it may be too late. As well as cost you more of both your time and money.

II. Treat it medically or therapeutically

This is a commonly chosen option ranging from taking aspirin and on to physical therapy to "major" surgery. You need to know that this option is not available under Upper Cervical Care.

A. Ramifications

1. Positive-

a) The treatment may relieve the symptoms while the body heals itself or the cause is removed. e.g. headache caused by lack of sleep, aspirin relieves symptoms, night's sleep corrects cause.

b) The treatment may remove an interference to the healing process. e.g. iodine killing the microorganisms of a cut finger.

2. Negative-

a) The symptoms may be relieved while the cause is never addressed.

b) The treatment may cause irreparable harm or even death.

You need to know that in choosing this option, you may not necessarily know what the ramifications will be until they occur. Also you need to know that Upper Cervical Care does not make judgments regarding this option, nor provides it and that if a patient is to choose this option, the finest expert advice is a necessity.

III. Upper Cervical Care

A person choosing this option is saying, "I am going to have my spine checked and, if needed, adjusted and see if my body has the ability to heal itself.”

A. Ramifications

1. Positive - the body with a good nerve supply may be better able to heal itself than one without a good nerve supply. Many people do get well.

2. Negative – There are limitations of time and matter, which means that sometimes things have gone on for so long and the body is so damaged that not much healing can occur. You need to know that you are dealing with the symptoms of a medical problem and that Upper Cervical Care does not make judgments concerning medical problems. The decision to begin Upper Cervical Care and allow the body an opportunity to heal itself or to consider the possibility that the body is past limitations of time and matter and that another option is needed, is entirely up to you.

IV. Medical (therapeutic) care, and Upper Cervical Care

The objectives of both professions are different therefore both can take place coincidentally. This option is open from the beginning of care and at any time during the course of Upper Cervical Care.

A. Ramifications

1. Positive - These are the same as for medical care alone and Upper Cervical Care alone.

2. Negative - The same as medical care alone and Upper Cervical Care alone. However, there is an added negative ramification. Medication may interfere with the ability of the body to heal itself and the ability of the Upper Cervical Doctor to remove the interference.

Now you can make an educated choice.
